I do see the purpose of religion as far as moral codes, hope, etc. But what I am seeing more and more now is the devisive nature of religion--and it seems to be breeding more hate, than hope. I wonder how many millions of people have died in the name of God--and is that what people really think he would want? I consider myself a spiritual person--and my belief system is more Christian than any other, but I can see truth and beauty in many religions and cultures. I think diversity is beautiful, why does it make others so angry?

Well, I'm Christian. But I'm not into religion. There is a difference between knowing Jesus Christ and practicing a religion. And yes, I do think that religion could possibly be the downfall of mankind. Because religion is all about ritual. Jesus Christ is about love, forgiveness, and parent/child relationship. Peace.

I honestly think the true downfall of mankind will be a lack of religion, or beliefs. Not having that something to be passionate about.
As a Christian, I want others to be Christians but I can find some beauty in other religions also. I still believe mine to be true but I'd rather someone believe in something than nothing.

You should read "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. I just started it and it's fascinating. He really gives great examples of why god doesn't exist and how damaging religion has been throughout the ages. There's no shame in being an atheist or agnostic. This country should have more freedom FROM religion than of it!

Chairman Mao 2 hundred million Atheist fairly don' t have a lot room to pass round and announcing such issues as faith and those killed. Atheist are the international leaders even as it includes homicide and those killed. They argue that they did not kill because of religion except for Pol...yet they were in reality atheist leaders...and lower than theist administration thousands and thousands were homicide purely in the previous century

Understand; In this very society we live in, we have the privilege to worship and/or pray to anything we want,Thus, making "Christianity" just another corporate product. That's the very heart of the issue of religion. Even athiests on here, who defend their "Beliefs", treat their version of morals, hope, as a religion. (Even though they will not blatantly admit it.) Freedom of religion has become nothing but a joke. I could pray to my watch because of the slogan alone (Timax) and actually develope a cult.

Jesus answers your ? best when he said at John 16; 2 " Men will expel you and the hour is coming when everyone that kills you will imagine he has rendered a sacred service to God."

True Christianity is loving, peaceful and kind, but unfortunately, the majority of christians and other faiths worry more about their traditions and their pride than love for neighbor.
