How do I merge two pictures together on Adobe Photoshop?

I don't even know how to open two pics at once!

First open pictures one aft one, by File>>Open>>Pic1.jpg then pic2. After this select the tool "free form select" or any selection tool that suits u. And go to one image, then select the area u want to add in second image( it could be whole image). After selection u will see a net around ur selection Press Crtl + C, then go to second pic by using Shift + TAB and press Crtl + V. Adjust the position of selected part.
