As usual, people have taken those words out of context. They are not referring to asking God for a new car or more money, Jesus is talking about seeking God. If you seek God, you will find Him, if you knock, the door will be opened. Yes, to think we should ask God for whatever we want and get it is foolishness, and those who teach it are fools.
