Lanolin is the worst thing U can do to your skin.
It comes from sheep. If it were good for the skin I doubt if sheep would have any wool!
The best thing for your skin is Aloe Vera Gel
get the natural stuff from a plant or from the Local Health food store. Avoid the enriched ones! Alternatively U can use the white stuff from the stems of Dandelions or Thistles.
Cammomile can help but that's not a cure!
Tea Tee Oil and Lavender Oil can help too
if these don't work go to your Naturalpath
a regular doctor won't be sufficient help here!

My skin has spells of that, too. Usually an allergy to some food or contact allergen. Sometimes it makes my skin worse to use anything on it. I just tough it out for a few days, using just a tiny bit of Vaseline on the worst of the places, and it seems that my skin starts to renew itself after that. I guess the saying about "less is more" is right in my case.
Chap Stick also works on cracked skin if you aren't allergic to it.

Apply 2 tablespoon raw milk on the face and neck or where ever it is dry and leave it to dry. Wash off with cold water. This helps to get soft skin. Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and use a face pack of ripe bananas and honey. You can find more cheap, effective and natural home remedies for dry skin at

You must begin to treat the problem from the inside of your body by feeding your body the proper nutrients. Go to the Health Food store and check it out. Most of them now days have computer systems especially set to answer your nutritional needs. If not talk to a clerk in the store who will aid you with the right things to eat and take to feed your skin from the inside out. Best wishes.

shea butter works really well.
try to keep your hands out of the water as much as you can and be sure to dry your skin well after.
you could also be over moisturizing give your skin a break to get used to the climate

It sounds like you have something more serious than dry skin.
See a doctor, it sounds like you need Rx grade medicine - not moisturizer.

Are they red slotches, like? More and more since I found out I'm gluten- intolerant, that is, Celiac's Disease *(Celiac.com) do I read of more and more people not knowning they have it!
However, extra virgin olive oil and Aloe are two plant products that have been used for eons.
You're NOT exposing your hands to chemicals, are you, like cleaning solutions, etc?
