The best pastor I have ever known was a woman, Pastor Patti. She was a true Christian who didn't care for the frills of Christianity, she concentrated more on the service part of it. She loved everyone she met, and you could see it in her eyes and she was a witness to more people than I can even imagine. Well, what I am getting at...is how can that possibly be a bad thing?
Many feel that Christianity was a reaction to the godess worship in the pagan religion, where women were deified due to their inherent characteristics...nurturing, life-bearing, etc. Men got jealous and started their own religion where most of the female heroines were either prostitutes, subserviant or temptresses. And God was now a man. They even placed their holidays on the former pagan holidays...Easter, Christmas, = spring/winter equinox pagan celebrations. Kind of like competitive marketing, I guess. http://www.religioustolerance.org/easter1.htm
It's interesting to explore the roots of your religion and the implications behind them...

Hello! How are you doing today?
Well for starters, I would just like to start by saying that the whole issue centered around the bible and the many ways it has been interpreted is so confussing within itself. The one thing that sticks in my mind is that the only thing God required us to do is confess with our mouths and believe in our hearts that Christ was crucified for our sins and raised again for our salvation. I belive that! I don't know whether it is true but I hope that it is. As far as all the other hang-ups that people have about any and everything else, I always ask them, "How do you know?" I let them know that they weren't even there and neither was I. I also know that life teaches us that anytime man has anything to do with anything expect it to be flawed. Paul was a man who was wrong alot in the bible and likewise was the men who swore that they would not leave Jesus's side and did exactly that. If the bible is true then what I have gathered from it is that God's love is deeper than the words on those pages and He can use whoever He wants whenever He wants and there aint nothing nobody can do but accept it or reject it and face Him later. Just continue to trust in God as much as you know how and seek truth and you cannot go wrong. Keep on questioning everything even when others tell you there is no answer to the question. There is an answer for every question it's just that some people can't seem to admit that they don't know.

Yes, Paul did receive a commandment from God that women should not teach in the church so that the authority of the man is not usurped. So, if the men in the church agree that a woman can preach, it should be okay. Because then, the authority of the man is not usurped if the men have agreed to it. So, in my opinion, based on my interpretation of the Bible, women should not preach at church in order not to offend, unless given permission by the male members. However, ALL Christians should preach the gospel to others when not in the church building.
Jesus Christ wanted things in the Church (meaning His body of believers) to be done decently, in order, and without offense. So, I think it's a small sacrifice for a woman to keep silent in a church building in order to preserve order and peace, thereby stopping disagreements within the Body. But, outside the church building, let the women preach and preach! All things should be done in love and in unity of Spirit. So, if a woman preaching in a church causes anyone to stumble, wait to preach until you go outside. Just the way I see it........ take it or leave it. God alone knows the whole truth. Peace.

Joyce Meyer has done a great deal for Christian women and I know God has used her in a mighty way. Paul felt that a woman shouldn't be a in pastorial leadership. Jojce is NOT the pastor of any church at all. She's a Bible teacher, not a pastor of a church. Keep watching her. Also, Billy Graham's daughter, Ann Graham Lotz is a great speaker and writer too. She speaks to all genders, but refuses to pastor a church, believing that is unbiblical. Sadly, some of the Christian men are failing to do their jobs in the churches. Someone has to take up the slack. Women.

I don't believe I have ever seen a cited Biblical quote denying the priest-pastor-minister role to women. It's another dumb Christian Male thing....ya know?
1 corinth 14 does not have anything about Women not being in charge of congregations. It is about speaking in tongues.
Cite: Oxford English Study Bible 1992
(Maybe it has been added to the Bible by certain sects. That happens often enough.)
1 Timothy, is an implication via the word "He does' about a male and does not really even imply that a woman cannot be a leader pastor of a congregation.
Like an old Indian Hippie said to me "Christian missionaries speak with split mouth."

The way I feel about this is that if there is a man in the congregation who is able to preach, then let him preach. Besides, it's the Holy Spirit that will be ministering. I feel that as long as there is a man available to preach, he should preach. When there is no man capable of preaching, then a woman should step up, since there is no man available. At least this is what I think, and I am a woman.

"Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it - he will be blessed in what he does" (James 1: 23 - 25). The book of James tells us that we should not just be hearers but doers of the Word of God. If you only hear and don't do, example, preaching the word then you're just a hearer and you'll have dead faith. The Bible tells us to save souls for him, so why would any woman want to just hear the word, do you understand? So let us all do what is required of us by God and win as many souls as we can. If you find yourself on judgement day (if you're a woman) and God gave you the gift of e.g. preaching and you never preached then He asks you what did you do for me? Are you going to tell him Lord I was at home?

Thanks for keeping your priorities straight--serving God is a priority. There are plenty of passages in scripture used in the discussions about women's roles in the church and home. 1 Corinthians 14 only contains some of them. There are plenty of good books written from the two basic perspectives on this issue in the church. Don't be afraid to pick up a shorter one to get started thinking through the issues critically.

Remember that the bible as you read it has been translated many times and often the original meaning is altered a bit sometimes knowingly sometimes unknowingly each time. If you could read the original language it was written you might be able to determine for yourself a different meaning.

I LOVE listening to a Woman speak (when there is no anger or ill intention in her voice). Speaking her belief s on God or reading from a Bible, is no harm done to anyone. God himself would embrace the voice. And Jesus would encourage it. Do so , if you wish, and be proud of your Free Will, and what you do with it.
For what is better? Someone who remains silent, or worse, yelling, ....or one who stands and sings words from the spirit.
