Christians believe God loves people, so Christians say it. Love is a major theme in Christianity because it is one of the attributes of God.

No, they just believe that most people do not realize how much they are loved by God, and that being loved by God is something to value.

the basis for Christianity is God so loved the world that He gave His only son to die in your place. so God loves you, even while you were yet a sinner.
but though He loves you, you must meet a requirement to have fellowship with Him......that is acceptance of the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ......so go for it!

not the want to be loved, but the knowledge that we are loved. We want others to know that they are children of God, even if they don't see that yet.
