doesn't make any sense to me...........everyone in every race are not alike! It's like if someone had a bad incident with ONE person from one race and they think everyone from that race is just like that.

Racism isn't about skin color. It's primarily about genes and gene-coded patterns of behavior. There's also an element of kinship loyalty: a racist sides with his race as you might take sides with your brother against a stranger in a fight. The idea that racism is about skin color is a liberal canard - a strawman argument that leftists invented to make racism appear foolish.

A sad fact is, there is bigotry in any race, and, there is no inoculation for the ignorance of individual.
That lady who spoke of fear being part of the equation is pretty astute, compassionate as well, we might all consider her answer.
What is so embarrassing is, ..there are apparently many more bigoted people in this country than i thought,...i see many here, in this site,..and they are tolerated by the majority of participants.
There are good folks here also, who's hearts are still free of that inhumanity.
Americans are so diverse,..!! How could such extremes hope to reach a consensus on so spiritual an issue? Wouldnt THAT be a national miracle??..!!

Ignorant parents make ignorant children. It is sad too. I don't care what race you are from, there's good and bad in all of them. Everyone has some sort of prejudice, but it's how you conduct yourself around those is what matters. If you notice, you attract what you hate. People who hate black people, their kids usually end up having mixed kids. Those who hate gay people usually have a kid who come out. So why not just save yourself the stress and love everyone?!

Sadly, it's human nature. We as humans, are prejudiced and tend to 'be afraid of' anything that is outside of our comfort zone. I think everyone is prejudice and it is a constant struggle to not give in to it. That doesn't always mean skin color. Anyone whose culture, color, religious preferences etc. are different than ours can make us feel uncomfortable. Its just easier and weaker for us to blame a whole group than just admitting that we don't understand our differences. I don't think people really 'hate' each other as much as we are afraid and somehow it does manifest itself in a hateful way. Somehow we think it would be best if people were 'just like us', but intellectually we know that's not right. It's going to be very interesting when we all get to heaven and see who or what God really is since all people are precious in His sight.

I really believe everyone is born with a great propensity to be prejudice...but if you're talking racism...well that's just ignorance w/ a big ole' dash of evil.

It easier to blame someone else for one's problem(s) than to admit culpability or contribution in your own situation. People of other races look different so it's easier to point at them and blame them for whatever lack there is in your life. Eventually, all the propaganda become myths that are passed from person to person, generation to generation. And then it becomes institutionalized racism.

Which is abhorrent. And it goes in all directions, the definition of racist does not start with a white person who....

I am sorry if you was treated wrong because of your race. I find race haters to be the most despicable people alive. They should be scraped of the face of the Earth like bug slime off a windshield. Love and Kisses BB

It's based on society and peer pressure. People will associate asains as the "smart" people. Blacks will be considered as "on welfare," or a woman will be "single mom, three kids, no job, doped up husband...all that junk. And history plays in huge role too.

People hate because they are misguided and scared of that which is different from their norm as well as being undereducated and small-minded. I wish I had the answer to this question because the reality of racism sickens me. All I know to do to fight it is to raise my son to see the evil in racism.
