Why does everyone ask foe a dry white wine? What is wrong with off-dry? Riesling, Gewurztraminer and?

because most of them don't have a clue about wines
the just assume that's what the want

You can match up a dry white with food easier,also check out the hangovers, the sweeter the worse the hangover for the most part.
