I was wondering if it was OK to give my English Bulldog some of the food the rest of the family eats. Obviously nothing with bones! but i'm talking about maybe a hotdog or a slice of salami. When he sees us eating you know he can smell it. I'm sure the regular dog food he eats doesn't taste nearly as good as what we eat. I would like to get some advice here first. I wouldn't want the little guy to get sick.

It is best not to feed your dog people food. It sets a bad precidence, could cause poor behavior (ie begging), and will take away from the good nutrition that good dog food provides.

I also have had some personal experience with English Bulldogs in particular being fed table scraps! I babysat for this one family, and the dog had gas like you would not believe!!!!!!!!!! Caused by the people food!

I know that most people would say no. Where it CAN upset thier stomachs, if you do it on a regular basis and don't it too much. Like no more than A hotdog, or A slice of salami, you should be just fine. I give my older dog his daily meds in braunshuiger(sp?).

And what Alex said... NO chocolate. It is toxic to dogs and no one knows the "safe" ammount so it's best to just stay away from it. But they do have 'chocolate candies' at the pet store for your dog.

If human food is used as a treat every once in a while [like, yeah a peice of salami,or some sort of meat]then that's fine. But too much human food can hurt thier digestive system and table scraps arent recomended at all to dogs,no matter what breed they are.

I have feed my dog table food and never had them get sick from it just make sure it is nothing with sugar like chocolate because that is toxic for animals. But be careful be some dogs become obsessed with table food and then don't want anything else.

Personally, I would say no. People food is for people, dog food is designed to give dogs the right nutrition that they need. Giving dogs "people" food can create a bad habit that could be hard to break.

No, you shouldn't. People food is never good for dogs because bad health and bad behavior. Dog food good for dogs and if you have to go away somewhere, it would be easier to find someone else to feed your dog. Dry dog food is the easiest to feed your dog with and cheaper too. Find dry dog food that your dog like will be a lot better if you feel sorry for your dog.

Well i think you should but only in special occasions, not ever time you are eating meat, because if he gets used to eating peoples food he will only eat peoples food and reject dog food and when you feed him ever day people food their breath stinks really bad even if you brush their teeth. But it is OK once in a while.

It's okay, but not all of the time. He won't want to eat his regular food if treated to many times with human food. Every once in a while it's okay.

meh, it's not really good. You don't want him to get overweight, for one thing. There's other cases where they just stop eating their regular food because they don't enjoy the taste of it. There are also cases of them getting sick in a way because of too much something in their diets. I work at a pet store, and we get to experience several different situations of their dogs being overweight(my bf's dog is, even though she has alot of energy, because she gets scraps under the table). people come in, telling us of their dog or cat not eating anymore, or being sick in some way because of the scraps, but still feeds it to them because the dog loves them

I mix a little people food with my dogs regular dog food everyday and she is 14. Doesn't bother them, but I don't recommend giving it to them without mixing it with their dog food. They will get spoiled.
