That is a good question. I think because when people see the word Wicca it makes them think of witches and witchcraft and a lot of people perceive that as fantasy or myth. People don't realize that it is a religion. Maybe people should start doing some research...they would be surprised at how many people are Wiccan or Pagan...etc. and that it is truly a religion.
Religion is very wide ranged so it probably wouldn't be a bad idea for them to have categories.

you may truly be a wiccan with out working in the direction of magic. Wicca and witchcraft do no longer would desire to take place collectively - the time-honored public of witches are not wiccan, and whilst they seem to be a minority, some wiccans opt for to no longer do witchcraft. It relies upon on what you advise via 'symbols'. you have gotten concern in the event that they're symbols of recommendations and you do not have self assurance in any style of divinity in any respect - in case you think in neither divinity nor witchcraft, then extremely some wiccan rituals do no longer make any experience. Why would you solid a circle if there is not any divinity and no witchcraft? Why would you do 'drawing down the moon' and purely about all different wiccan rituals? this is a hard one - yet while it works for you, you may purely call it eclectic wicca and roll with it (as you will see that, it is not an concept that works for me, yet i do no longer probably care approximately your spirituality). in case you, besides the indisputable fact that, think of of the divine as a form of precis yet latest concept - nicely as long as you additionally could make it paintings for you, that is all that concerns.

Personally, I don't think Mythology should be in with folklore at all. Mythology is just religion that has lost favor, and there are at least a few people who still beleive in any mythology you care to name.

Because the people posting them think Wicca is just a myth, just as you think it's a valid religion. We all have the right to define it as we see fit. But I think you already knew that.
If you want to make a point, don't hide under the guise of a fake question. Just make your case and cut the crap.

Are you kidding? Have you SEEN how many Xians are on here? Witches can't get a word in edgewise...
At least in Folklore, which is what we usually deal with anyway, we can have answers that don't involve our beliefs being called Satanic or that we're going to Hell...
How unimaginative. And not very helpful...

I would imagine it's because Wiccans tend to draw from a variety of ancient religions that are usually referred to as "mythology" nowadays.
To tell you the truth, I have more respect for mythology than religion.

Actually, what should be done is drop "Religion & Spirituality" and add "People of The Bible," Pagan, far eastern, Indian, and several other catagories. All under Beliefs of the World.

I agree. I would really like to see separate categories, for various reasons. For instance, there should be a Christian category, where it would be acceptable to ask questions about god while assuming they're talking about the CHRISTIAN god.
I'd like to see Pagansim as a separate category too, and atheism, both with strict rules against proseltyzing.

Often they choose to post their questions in "Mythology & Folklore because they get less flak over there, for some reason.

I'm not sure what you're talking about. I've seen many posts about Wicca and paganism here.
