i wanna know why so many people think i should turn my life back over to their god..what has he ever done for me but destroy lives, families, friendships and nations..and im not refering specifically to the judeo christian god but to gods of all religions..what is the overall obsession with people trying to get me to convert what do they gain out of it..a "clean conscience" because they fear that they will be punished if they dont convert "non-believers"? this all just confuses and bother the hell out of me. and please...dont quote any type of scripture from whatever book or doctrine you may follow...i want strong hard evidence that shows why i should follow a god again. thanks for your time and answers

because He believes in you

The only legitimate reason for you to believe in any God is if you feel called upon to do so. This is an intuitive matter, and between you and whatever Gods may exist. No human being can say anything that will convince you, because words are just words. Only an experience of the Divine is capable of leading you to theism, in my opinion.

That said... there's no particular reason why you SHOULD believe in any God (or Goddess). There are plenty of happy, fulfilled, ethical atheists and agnostics out there. As far as I'm concerned, if you're living your life in a way that brings you satisfaction and honor and you're not harming anyone in the process, it's all good. Be honest with yourself and never compromise your integrity.

And yes, I am a theist. See? Not all of us feel compelled to convert you, or anyone else.

It is in our nature to strive after truth and believe what we believe to be right. This flies in the face of the current postmodern sentiment that we create our own reality (which is a bunch of crap as people can theorize it and say they believe it, but nobody actually lives that way).

So, there is truth, the next matter is finding it. If there is truth, then there must be a source of that truth - otherwise we would not have concepts of right and wrong, everything would just be "different."

I do not have to go to the factory of my cell phone or meet the workers who work there to know that there is a cell phone factory and cell phone makers. The gadget is too complex to have evolved over millions of years. Our human bodies are millions more times complex than a cell phone. So, in the same line of logic, if there is a cell phone, there is a cell phone maker. If there is a planet, there is a planet maker. If there is a human body (containing intricate detail), there is a human body maker. If there is creation, there is a Creator.

Because we have an internal sense of right and wrong (and not just different), there is a standard of truth and morality. That standard is innately put into us by our Creator.

From there, you have to figure out who that Creator is. From all of my serious studying, I have come to believe that it is the God of the Protestant Bible.

Christians, specifically, do not get anything out of leading someone else to repentance except for the internal satisfaction that someone else will not have to suffer through eternal torment (as a punishment of continually violating God's standard of morality). It is something that Christians do to be obedient to Christ (who told us to warn others from the wrath that is to come). It is *not* to earn our favor or good standing with God - that work was done on the cross.

Also, a true Christian who understands the reality of the wrath to come will have a strong urge to tell everyone they can so others can repent and flee from it. As a person said above, if a blind person was walking to the edge of the cliff, would you leave him be (happy as he is prior to the fall), or would you plead with him to turn around and run away from the edge of the cliff? A moral person would desire to save the blind man, and that is what Christians believe they are doing. That is their motivation... that is their obsession.

At the risk of quoting Scripture, the Bible states (James 2:19): "You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder." (NAS) The difference between us and demons (apart from spelling and humanity), however, is that Christ did not die to save the demons from the penalty of sin - He only died for humans. We have an opportunity to repent now - which will not last forever. In fact, it only lasts until we physically die... and who can predict the date of their death [fatal car wrecks, fatal heart attacks, and other sudden events find more of us than most realize]? So, again, repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. We have all (especially me) broken the laws of God for which we deserve strong punishment. The level of a punishment is more determined by whom we have transgressed against rather than the crime itself (e.g., a person on the street, a police officer, the President of the US, and God Himself).

I sincerely did not try to preach at or to you. I simply tried to answer the questions you posted. E-mail me if you have any questions related to what I said. Good luck in your quest for truth.

People want you to convert because they believe that if you are not saved, you will suffer some punishment in the afterlife. If you saw somebody about to walk off a cliff, wouldn't you do something? They see not believing as the spiritual equivalent of walking toward the edge of the cliff. So they try to do something.

As far as believing in God goes, trust your heart. If you're ready to believe, you'll know. Don't let anybody rush your belief.

This person was very angry with God because they felt God wasn't helping them when they needed it. Whatever it is that has you upset with him or whatever just know that he does care for you and all you have to do is ask him for help and he will. Jesus did say he came to save us all but to bring division also because some will believe in him and others will not. His intentions are to save everyone eventually. Know that as horrible as people's deaths seem, we all live on after we die. These bodies are temporary and we all have to die. God does not destroy but Satan does and he has a massive army to help him. Jesus does the opposite of Satan and builds up, heals, and does only good. Whenever he allows evil to happen it's only to bring about good things to help other people.

He is not going to allow bad things to keep happening forever. Soon he will put an end to death and all suffering for good.

there's a undeniable attraction with wanting to have self assurance that there is a purely god observing over us and is attracted to our lives. i'm afraid you have theory for the duration of the end results of a god latest, yet this god motives/helps evil and ignores our prayers. God probably would not exist. If any gods do exist they of course have chosen to no longer show themselves. this is the undesirable information. the stable information is that we are residing in a staggering universe and are individuals of a species which could do extremely some stable interior the worldwide. we are under pressure with the understanding that prayer does no longer something, so we would desire to actual do issues to cause them to take place. we are blessed with an mind and an inquiring ideas that as quickly as we placed down the god-delusion we are able to make truly medical discoveries which could bless guy-form. conversing from adventure, it does get extra acceptable. you will experience plenty extra acceptable as quickly as you get previous the god-delusion.

If you are a Hindu or Buddhist you realize that there is no separate god from yourself, it's the fundamental reality of everything in the Universe. The hard evidence of that is existence and conciousness. But you don't have to join anything or convert to know it

Because He loves you so much that He came to this earth in the form of the man, Jesus, the only begotten Son of God, and died in your place for the sins that you have committed so that you can have the free gift of eternal life.

I don't gain anything out of you becoming His follower. You would gain peace and freedom from fear in this life. You would gain everlasting life with Him in Heaven.

The strong evidence that I can produce as to whether to follow Him or not is my life. He is my friend and my savior. He has changed me and given me faith, hope and love for my fellow man.

It really depends on who you are. I'm a Christain; but everyone has their own thoughts on the matter. But, I know my Grandmother would say, "He gave you life, and by making the wrong choices we have taken advantage of him." I think this is only partly true. But if people tell you that God won't let you into Heaven because you didnt believe, ask them this. "Then why did I get to live?" Considering the millions of children who die as soon as they are born. The fact is that no human knows for sure what they are talking about unless they have died. THIS IS WHY JESUS DIED FOR US, PEOPLE!!!!!!

It is rather unfortunate for those Atheists who have turn their backs against the truth. Some will insist on evidence of God's existence only they will start to believe in it. But the question is are you qualify to meet the God, it is rather obvious without belief and faith God will never want to see you. Only belief, faith and a
pure heart will bring you closer and closer to the God, you need not believe what others say, why not go and look for the God yourself?
