I had a seizure when I was 6 (don't remember it, lost sonsciousnous), when I was 8, in the summer (I had about 10 seizures that summer, all resulting in loss of consciousness) when I was 9 or 10 (I was in my dad's car when suddenly my lips started getting numb, I started shaking, and drooling. Lost consciousness.) However, when I was 11, in a museum with my parents, my lips went numb, I started shaking, drooling, and, basically, all signs of a seizure resulting in loss of consciousness. I KNOW that seizure should have knocked me out cold, like the rest of them. However, I used all my will and resisted it! How did I do that? The physician (and everyone else) said it was impossible! I didn't tell my parents about resisting the seizure or even having the seizure; everything went on as normal, though I was shaken for several minutes after it went away. I KNOW that was a lose-consciousness seizure; I can feel it; HOW DID I RESIST IT???

Children who have diseases such as epilepsy do not know any better than to try to "fight it". They just go with what their body is telling them and just have a seizure. As we age, our brain is much more in "sync" with our body. You may be able to recognize specific "aura's" that go along with your seizures, and take certain steps in your mind so it doesn't get full-blown. Even having the numbing of your lips, and the shaking means that you did have a seizure, it just wasn't a "grand mal". Epileptics have both "petite mal" and "grand mal" seizures, I'm sure you know all about them. I don't think you can actuallly stop all the symptoms of having a seizure, but it is possible that as you age, you just become more aware of a seizure coming on. Your mind is an amazing organ!
Others simply outgrow grand mal seizures and carry on having only petite mal ones. Either way, keep doing what you're doing. Don't let anyone tell you that anything you do is IMPOSSIBLE. That's not right, for they're not you. Good luck, and God bless.

It's called an aura. Symptoms you experience before having a seizure are called Auras. And it's very possible that's what happened to you. If you have epilepsy, you need to see a nuerologist, get on Depicot, and start treating it, and finding what triggers them. I was luck enough to start my treatment so early, I haven't had a seizure in over 10 years now, and hopefully never will. I think you experience an aura. Now go see a neurologist! If you can recover, and not have seizures anymore, then you should GO FOR IT
