I think my german shepherd needs the most affection and also gives the most affection. She is three years old now and always has one eye on me and one paw on me. She loves to rest her head on my lap and rest her head on my shoulder. It's funny to see a big dog curl up into a small ball just so she can sit on the couch with me and my husband. She gives the most affection, yelping and sighing with happiness when I come home from work. Oh and she is affectionate to others - but only others that love her, too!

Chihuahuas are the most affectionate breed of dog. They want nothing more to be loved on. They will also attempt to protect their owners. I am not sure they could do a lot if push came to shove, but I have no doubt that mine would give his life to protect me or my family. He will not even let my husband get close to me if I am upset and he thinks it is my husbands fault. He will sit in my lap and bark at my husband, and try to keep him away from me. It is so cute. He only does it when I am upset. They are great little dogs.

I got a lab from an animal shelter when he was 6 months old and he is the most affectionate dog I have ever seen. We are trying to get him to understand that he is not the size of a pug, he tries to sit on our lap all the time. He also loves to lay on the bed with us and always trying to give kisses.

Well it all depends on how the dog is raised for it to be affectionate or not. If you neglect your puppy it will probably not be a very affectionate animal. Personally I find tat Boarder Collies, Retrivers, or Labs are most affectionate but that's because I prefer big dogs.

I have a basset hound, a beagle, and a pitbull. Even though everyone says that pitbulls are mean, but mine (angel) is a great dog. And when she wants attention, she will pull your arm to pet her. But she is really fat.

my basset hound (chloe) is not the smartest dog out there, but she is one of the sweetest. She does stink though. Everyone says that bassets are lazy, but mine is hyper. She doesn't sleep until she is put into her cage.

My beagle (sammie) is very rude, she belives that everything her hers. She is also very greedly and snaps when somebody takes her food. Its probably she was the only dog when she was a puppy she was babied.

Poodles, standard or miniature are most affectionate.
Golden Retreivers give as much love as they can get.
Small dogs tend to want to be held and coddled.
Terriers are a bit scrappy but still loveable.
For pure love a German Shorthair Pointer will protect you to the nth degree.
But all dogs are beautiful and playful and loving. They give to you what you give to them.

The type that are treated like dogs and not like furry children. The latter tend to act more like spoiled brats. Do a fun activity with your dog like agility or obedience and you'll have a bond like no other.

I think Maltese are really affectionate and hug-able. But also Chihuahua's because they tend to only bond with one person so that one person will get heaps and heaps of affection.
