I'm doing itemized taxes & would like to know where do i put my kid's pre-school expenses. I've searched high & low on this software & couldn't find anything.

Plus I thought there used to be a provison to report the house maintenance expenses also, like fixing the broken stuff in your primary home, but i can seem to locate that as well.

Any help is appreciated..............

the pre-school expenses are deductible if they enabled you (and your wife if married) to work. they would be reported on Form 2441. you can have up to $3,000 expenses per child. you could be entitled to a maximum tax credit of $600.

they are not reported on schedule A for itemized deductions.

you would need the care providers federal ID# also.

If your child is in pre-school so you can work, then you might be able to take it as a dependent care expense. Otherwise, it's not deductible.

The reason you can't locate a place to deduct house maintenance expenses for your home is that they aren't deductible, so the place to deduct them doesn't exist.

Your child's pre-school costs can be claimed for the child and dependent care credit if having the child in the school allows you to go to work (and if you are married, it has to allow both you and your spouse to work).

As for the house maintenance expenses, that is only deductible if you have a home office, and only the portion attributable to the space used by the home office is deductible. The remainder is considered a personal expense and is nondeductible.

You can only deduct preschool if you used it as a daycare while you worked or went to school. Otherwise, you can't deduct it. If you did use it as daycare, see the link I provided below to get the child care credit.

You can't deduct house maintenance.

As the other answer said, you can't deduct those items, so no need to report them to anyone. It's like where can I report my expenses for chocolate. No such luck.

None of those items is deductible, so you don't report them.

You won't find those items because they are not deductible.
