running is very good for you. you can do it everyday or twice day, just listen to your body it will tell you when to stop.
it on its own will not make you slim and athletic yiou will also need to go to the gym and do cardio and weights and lots of ball work.
good luck

When I was training, I wouldn't run every day, and I wouldn't do the same run every day either. Switching things up is good, such as running slow and long one day, taking a day off, doing wind sprints another day, fast race pace one day, a couple of normal paced medium distance runs, etc. Hills are always great for conditioning and burning lots of calories.
One thing that's counter-intuitive but really helps is weights. You don't have to go balls to the wall with weights, but incorporating a weight routine not only helps your run speed, but will get you more toned and burn even more fat (muscle metabolizes all day, especially when healing).

I like to run every other day. Your legs need to recoup if you're running long distances. I started getting into the best shape once I was able to run 3+ miles at a high intensity level each run I took. Get yourself a heart monitor so you can keep your body going strong without overdoing it. It's also a good way to make sure you're working hard enough.

It depends on your starting point. It is really easy to overdo it at the beginning, but if you ease into a routine, it can be a great way to exercise. I like to go out 3 to 4 times a week, but it can be 2x or 5x depending on the weather.
I started out with a good Couch to 5K program from Coolrunning. I'm now training towards a 10K with SparkPeople.
