For some reason, i cant use any "Microsoft management console" stuff. Everytime i try to open administrative tools like Disk Defrag or Performance, i get an error window that syas, "MMC cannot open file C:\WINDOWS\system32\dfrg.msc.

This may be because the file does not exist, is not an MMC console, or was created by a later version of MMC. This may also be because you do not have sufficient access rights to the file."

this has never happened before. What can i do to use disk defrag? any help would be appreciated. Thank You

Is your Windows legitimate? If you are not sure, you can check it out here:

You say you try to open "administrative tools." In my version of Windows Disk Cleanup,Scandisk, and defrag are in:
Start
Programs
Accessories
System Tools

You may have to uninstall Windows and reinstall. Be sure to copy your files to a backup CD, flashdrive, or external hard drive first.

Hmm, nvr heard of that error message b4. First I would check if the file is in the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder. Check all the other ones too. If they arent, u can use your windows CD to put them back I think, by repairing windows. If you don't mind message me somehow to tell me how it goes. :)
