Cigarette companies continue to exist by hooking the young while they're young and stupid. Do religions follow the same marketing strategy?

Yes, even worse though! They get them just as they are born and then continue the indoctrination for the rest of their life! No, you aren't bad to think this because it is the truth, you made a good point.

No, not bad thinking, just to mean against the worlds religions.
They really do help more than many know, because few will have any time in print or TV, talking about real stories. What everyone will hear ad nauseam is a few terrible individuals hurting others, and that's all people base their opinions on. Take Pagans - never have I heard any good stories, or Atheists, well according to the TV/print the world is close to boiling over - yet I doubt this - because there are too many good honest Pagans and Atheists, and every other faith helping each other - Also I have known many priests and nuns in my 40+ years and none are deserving of anyones scorn or hate - they are amazing people and truely help so many I don't have time to explain.
Humanity is messy, and many do not like messy. So they cry about it, wanting their way only, thinking to reduce the mess.
The marketing of each religion is an individual sell. At the age of reason all those years of laying out their product can be for nothing by the person simply THINKING for themselves!
See GOD gave each of us FREE WILL - so use it, and think for yourselves! Thinking is the best way to scare off people that want to control you. LEARN ALL YOU CAN, then you can not be tricked or hurt by religious sales people (as you call them). Also, GOD will be behind your religious faith decision 100%, just make it clearly and honestly, living as best you can each day, and you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish. No faith follower, or Athiest, etc. - lives outside of the laws of the community they live in, so be the best YOU that you can be.
The age of reason is around 12 to16 for most. By 18 in the USA, most parents have torn down the room and redecorated the house. So prepare yourselves life will be moving fast, stay alert.

Oh brother! I am so sick of anti-religious people taking on attitudes of intellectual superiority. Many great thinkers and great people have been religious. So churches are filled with, oh my gosh, humans! When you find a group of perfect people here on earth, let me know. Until then, I'll just be over here with BILLIONS of other people striving to live out our faith, love others, feed the hungry, care for the homeless, and do all the other crap that so many intellectual elites seem to think will get done without religious groups.
Go do some homework on people like Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Kierkegaard, Mother Theresa, Thomas Aquinas, Abraham Lincoln, when you can comprehend 1/4 of what they believed come back and post your little insults.

No, that isn't how it works. Children are brought into a religion by their parents. All humans go through a period in their youth when they can and usually are imprinted with the beliefs of their tribe. Once imprinted, they believe the precepts of the tribe without question which is why it is nearly impossible to reason with them.

You got it wrong. That's only some religions. Religion is a choice, not a scam as you put it.

No, you're not bad. You're right on target. (I don't think the issue is youth and stupidity, but youth and lack of life experience and general knowledge.)

You are right. I see it as natural selection. Let the dumb die off and only keep the smart ones alive to breed and populate the gene pool.
