Because I believe God is a patient, loving creator, not a jealous, angry, judgemental destroyer. We are so puny and ignorant compared to Him- if He punished us with eternal damnation for doing what He put us here to do, that would be like us beating a baby to death for pooping it's pants. I think it's crazy to believe that only a select few people who are born in the right place, and join the right church and say all of the right prayers and don't commit any unpardonable sins, and jump through all of the right hoops are lucky enough to avoid eternal torment, and return to their creator. He loves all of us equally. There is no hell, and the devil was just made up by people who didn't want to take responsibility for their own actions. Everyone goes to heaven when they die, because there is no place else to go. I, too, quit listening to what other people were telling me was true, started seeking truth for myself, abandoned fear, and accepted the answers that were placed on my heart. Peace to you.

I was raised in a baptist household and eventually drifted towards being an agnostic. Here's why:
- the"hellfire for you if you disagree" attitude got really old
-hateful actions from a self-proclaimed "loving" organization
- self-righteous attitudes
- impractical and ignorant gender roles
- finally seeing how the same text, and even the same exact passages, have been used to both advocate and admonish the same action or attitude
- I don't consider churches who would cite scripture to excuse prejudices and incite hatred as doing "God's work", it is logically flawed if you consider God to be a loving and caring entity
- speaking of logic --the problem of evil
- a history of violence towards those who disagree
- ignoring and altering scientific findings
- re-re-re-re-reinterpretations of the same script
- Pat Robinson (a very pious man cruising in his Leer Jet)
I've got plenty more, but that's a good start...

I left Christianity for Christ. Religion is based on laws I can never live up to, people that will never be pleased no matter what I do, and a life of frustration.

Christ offers me a relationship with a God that forgives, has a plan for my life and loves me unconditionally.

For moral reasons.

One should envision one's Gods as being at least as good as the best human beings. The best of us would not damn people for eternity for an honest difference of opinion or because they liked to drink beer and get laid. The best of us would not set up eternal torment at all. The Christian God is less worthy than the best of his admittedly very imperfect human creations. I refuse to worship him on moral grounds.

I am of the opinion that Christianity is a mediocre idea gone horribly, horribly wrong. Many of its fundamental teachings strike me as innately harmful and damaging; its followers tend to be close-minded and bigoted; and its theology is flawed. To be fair, it shares several of these qualities with other monotheistic religions. Also to be fair, as people will no doubt race to inform me, Christianity does have adherents who aren't quite as warped as their religion tends to be. However, in general, I have found Christianity to be severely lacking in its spirituality, social, and ethical teachings; and Christians to be largely arrogant and rude.

Well I TOLD it to pee before we left the house, and when we stopped at the gas station we just sort of got distracted with buying some beef jerky, and before we knew it we were twenty miles down the road and realized it wasn't there.

I read the Bible, found it full of horrible ideas, and inconsistencies, and I realized that there was either no God, or that I needed to find other gods. I also went to an Evangelical church school, so that helped too.

Eventually, I chose other gods.

(Matthew 7:7) Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

(Matthew 7:8) For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

After seeking the Truth, I was Freed!!

(John 8:32) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
