God does not punish, we punish ourselves due to our ignorance and wickedness. We live in darkness and love darkness, and consider it a punishment to be subject to the light, the light that wants to guide us to safety and happiness.

Dear Friend,
The Teacher give punishment to student. Parent give punishment to their child BUT God never punish you. God is very loving and generous. God is very great.
Only thing that GOD is the best manager and to balance the entire system of Universe, GOD has set-up system called "Action - Reaction" or you can say that "Cause & Effect" or Theory of KARMA.
So please note that any result you get and consider as "Punishment" is surely some of your karma you have done past and you have received the result of that deed. So please be open minded and take it positively.
Do regular meditation and you will become capable of unnderstanding GOD's theory.
Good Luck!

God only punishes those who disobey Him. Or who worship 'other' gods.
(2 Kings 19:35) And it came about on that night that the angel of Jehovah proceeded to go out and strike down a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the camp of the As·syr′i·ans. When people rose up early in the morning, why, there all of them were dead carcasses.

I don't think that God "punishes" in a retributive sense. Rather, I think the "punishments" that humans receive for their actions are the results of enmity with God. When human are centered completely in the self, any event or experience that transgresses the hegemony of self-created reality is considered "punishment."

God can punish His children, but mostly we just suffer the consequences of our own actions. God can and does chastise us for habitual or willfull sin, but mostly we ignore Gods advice and suffer the consequences.
When God does discipline us, it is for our own good, just as our earthly parents discipline us when we are young and learning and growing. God knows the outcome of our sin and He sometimes intervenes and steers us back on course. Other times He lets us fall flat on our face and we learn from this experience. In every situation, God is in complete control.
God Bless You....Peace.
