I have lived on the Gulf Coast for about 3 years and have noticed that my hair has thinned out a great deal... and I can't pinpoint why!! I have recently been put on prenatal vitamins by my doctor (no, I'm not pregnant) and the only reason I'm actually taking htem is that I hope it will help thicken my hair back up!

Anyone know what could be causing my thinning?

Thyroid disease. It can be checked with a blood test.

Because I believe vitamin pills are not the answer. Take 2 tbls. of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water 2 x day. Makes nails grow long too. Has 93 vitamins AND minerals. Really works. I just do not believe that pills are absorbed as well as liquid. Just my opinion. I know acv works, as it has made my hair and nails grow long and strong. I never have had the hair I wanted until I took apple cider vinegar. Read the website on this miracle.

I moved from NC to Maine and my hair started thinning really bad. I went to the doctor and he said it could either be from the change in climate or the stress of moving. I had lived there about a yr and a half when it started thinning. After I was there about 5 yrs it started thickening again. Maybe this is your problem.

I have had this problem in the past as well. I took folic acid, tried different shampoo treatments, had my thyroid check and nothing seemed to work. My hair was very long. I took about 6 inches off and the falling out of hair stopped. I don't know if your hair is long or not but you may want to try it. I cut the hair after someone told me the weight of it will make it fall out.

The "hardness" of water can definitely do this. Some peoples hair cannot handle this - the best thing to do is change your shower heads to ones that can filter out the water from impurities.

Also, if you want to thicken your hair, try this site, its expensive, but it really works well. I've used it for a year now and it not only stopped my hair from falling out, but also helped them grow again...and slowly but surely my hair has started to get thick again.
