Hebrews 9:27 "And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment."
Some also quote 2 Corinthians 5:7-8 "For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord."

Hebrews 9:27--"It is appointed to man once to die, and then the judgment." "Once to die" means no reincarnation. "And then the judgment" means no holding pen or limbo or wandering the earth as a ghost; do not pass go, do not collect $200, go immediately to jail in the abode of the dead if your judgment did not fall on Jesus Christ.
If, however, you made Jesus your Savior and Lord, then, "Absent from the body is at home with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8).

Most of so called ' christianity' does not know.
But the Bible does.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5-6) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. 6 Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun.

i trust that the spirit of real followers of Christ on the on the spot is going to be with Christ even as they die. The spirits of all some thing of the persons look forward to judgment day in an subconscious state. Then at judgment day all and diverse is resurrected an stands in there flesh previously God the righteous will receive eternal existence and the depraved will be destroyed.

If we receive Jesus as our Savior, our penalty for sin is paid. We are adopted into God's family, and Heaven is our eternal home. If we reject Jesus, we remain alienated from the Lord and under condemnation for our sin. We are destined to experience eternal judgment. God won't accept any of man's excuses because there is no acceptable defense for unbelief. (Acts 4:12)

Well, according to the Catholic belief, after you die, there are three places you can go. One, if you've never sinned (almost impossible), or if your a martyr, you go to heaven directly. Then there is purgatory, where you go if you have sinned but not enough to send you to hell. Here, you spend your days, sorta like a hell, repenting your sins. When they are repented you go to heaven. If your truly bad, and have never asked for God's mercy, you will go to hell.
