I have always claimed "1" ever since I started working. I have never changed that. I always got a little something back. Is it because I had made more money than I have before?

Hey,

If you made more money you might be in a new tax bracket. I do HR and I suggest to all new hires who say they don't have any dependents or children to claim 0, it is the safest way to go.

Something has changed. If you have put yourself in a higher tax bracket you will pay a higher percentage of taxes. You can designate on a new W4 that you want something extra taken out so that you get more back. You only get money back when you have paid too much in. Why not stick it in a savings account and get some interest.

Sounds like you reached a higher tax bracket, you would need to fill-out a W4 with your employer to change this. You where not being taxed enough. If this isn't the case you could be missing some deductions.

Could be. It all depends on your total income, deductons, tax withheld...

Get last years return, and this years, and compare those things. You should see a difference somewhere.
