If she's fat, it's not like she'll look any skinnier by not telling you her weight. Some people don't even look their weight. Some are heavier than they look, and isn't the whole point just to LOOK good?

Some of you are making reasons, which are understandable and make sense. But others are making it too much of personal thing. There is a difference in level of privacy between asking someone how much they weigh, and how long their penis is, or how tight their vagina is. Weight is something one can actually see in public places.

I'd like to thank those who gave a sincere and logical answer.

Because it's a personal question.
Because women are judged by their weight more than men.
Because it's intrusive and rude and NOYB
Margaret Cho (a commedienne) does a routine about how, when she played in the sitcom "Family Ties" she had to lose 30 pounds for the part, becuase the producers were "concerned that her face was too wide". She struggled, lost the weight, and nearly died of kidney damage from the dieting. Her sitcom was cancelled anyway, replaced with, as she says, "Drew Carey, becuase he is skinny"
This highlights the difference of how women are judged by their weight much more than men are.
It's something that we have to live with day by day, and it's rude to remind us.
It's like asking a guy what is the area in square inches or square millimeters of his bald spot. Even though his bald spot may be clear to see, it's not nice to call attention to it and to quantify it as if it matters in judging him as a person.

Ambee and Kassy hit it pretty well.

Your comment about people not necessarily looking their weight (looking thinner or heavier) is a testimonial: numbers are JUST numbers. BUT, women have been socialized (in many countries) to judge their appeal as women on their success at being an 'ideal' weight, and most are constantly concerned about it.

A gracious gent doesn't ask a woman's weight because he knows what you mentioned - a number is just a number, unless you make it something more.

We trust you'll be sensitive to that in future. :)

Because it makes us uncomfortable. If you think you aren't up to par in an area of your physicality, you do your best to make yourself look the best you can and hope you maybe look like you weigh less than you really do. Plus people, both men & women, make snap judgments just on the number on the scale and don't take a person's height and bone structure into consideration.

By the way, I was just curious. How much can you bench? How long is your penis? How many inches is your gut going to hang out over your belt when I leave and you stop sucking it in?

I know! I don't get it either. As if the way a person looks suddenly changes by having that information. I mean, it's pretty hard to hide being overweight (I know!). So, just by not telling someone how much I weigh, am I going to look any thinner? No. Same thing with age.

The whole issue of weight is touchy with women because body image and weight is such a big deal in our society and advertising. A lot of women want to avoid the whole issue altogether.

And, in my opinion, the point shouldn't be about looks at all. It should be about health.
