To make them believe that the Holocaust really happened.

Do you believe the Holocaust happened?
I do have my opinion by the way and I'm not supposed to convince anybody just a school assignment.

This is an interesting assignment. I think the best way to tackle it is to find out what the Holocaust Deniers believe or don't believe about the Holocaust. I think a good place for you to start is with the video documentary One Third of the Holocaust. http://www.onethirdoftheholocaust.com/

You may also want to visit the IHR http://www.ihr.org/ and the Zundel site http://www.zundelsite.org/ez.html.

Once you know what the Holocaust Deniers believe, you will be able to write an intelligent letter. If you go by what your teacher says they believe then you will be no smarter then the rest of the sheep.

I don't think Holocaust deniers can be convinced. The evidence is so pervasive that it's clear they are stubbornly refusing to accept it---probably for shock value and just to yank people's chains. If you want to read some good info, read Michael Shermer's book, Why People Believe Weird Things. he devotes a couple of chapters to the subject.

What a dumb assignment. Can't your teacher think of a more intellectually stimulating assignment?

If you sent me that letter, I'd throw it in the trash and laugh. I guarantee you, we "holocaust deniers" have probably studied the topic far more extensively than any kid in school has. We've already heard every bit of propaganda you might think to throw at us and have already found evidence to the contrary.

I don't think schools have any place to be indoctrinating students with their opinion, instead of encouraging you to seek out the truth for yourself and form your own beliefs. I'm sure you only get to hear one side of the story in school. How can you possibly refute beliefs that you know nothing about?

Well, that's an interesting assignment, because there's really nothing you could say to persuade such a person. All you can do is express your own opinion on the matter, and you can mention all the evidence that backs up your opinion.
