i want to continue getting in shape for the summer but I had a setback.

There are lots of things you can do to lose weight, even with a broken ankle! You'll have to eat properly and frequently (on a schedule) in order to speed up your metabolism: this way you'll be able to burn more calories & fat faster.

Some exercises: one-legged squats (using a chair for support), situps, crunches, kickbacks (or donkey kicks...), pushups (on your knees).... Weights are also a great idea! (Just be careful.)

You also have the opportunity to stretch very frequently. You can stretch while watching TV, lying in bed, while you're eating... the possibilities are virtually endless! Stretching is important since it also strenghtens your muscles prevents injuries (to a certain extent) and gives them a longer, leaner look. You should stretch before and after any workout in order to prevent injury.

Speak to your doctor or a trainer/physical therapist before you start any exercise program. They are more experienced in creating workouts for different types of people and would be able to create something just for you.

First, you should always talk to your physician before you start a new exercise regime, but that being said:

Build upper body muscle. If you do resistance training (with weights), you will build muscle, and building muscle causes quicker weight loss than most other exercise regimines. Here's why. When you do cardio, you only burn calories while you're working out, but when you do resistence training, you burn calories while you work out, and all throughout the day.

It is ideal to workoutyour whole body, but if your ankle is hurt, stay off of it. Get a pair of weights, and get those biceps, triceps, traps, and pecs working!

There are several things you can do to lose weight that are not related to exercise that will be very helpful to you.

Exercise burns fat, but it also makes you hungry and so you tend to eat the amount of food to maintain your weight and this is a slow process that requires a large amount of will power and most people do not do well with this.

I believe exercise is very important and we all should be diligent about creating habits that promote good exercise, but let's be real, most people just have huge problems with that. Look how much money gyms make on selling memberships to people who believe having the membership will make them lose weight just because they are a member of a gym.

To get over the broken ankle quickly, I would suggest you take 15 to 20 nucleotides per day. This will speed the recovery by over 2/3 and you will be amazed at how fast your bone heals. I would also get a bone & joint formula, avoid at all costs CALCIUM CARBONATE, but incourage a good dietary calcium supplement.
Calcium Carbonate makes great chalk, but causes huge problems in your body!

To get to the weight loss issue, you need to make sure you are digesting your food properly. Do upper body workouts. If you belong to a gym they have a torso machine get your cardio workout. Stay off the ankle until your doctor gives you the ok.

Richard Simmons toning uptown.
Lifting leg weights and Simmons weight lifting tape.
You can do toning uptown sitting in a chair.
I know I did after surgery and it helped.
You can use leg weights on the other leg and lift the leg while doing the exercise as well.

If ur bed is high up lay down on it then put half of your body on the egde then bring it down (upside down sitting) and put your hands on the ground bring up the bottom half of your body ,and hold it for a couple of seconds do that repeatedly 4 10 minutes (Be careful).It helps your stomache muscles.
