Because something bad COULD happen to you, but worrying about it won't change anything (unfortunately). Even if you never leave your bed, bad things can happen to you. So you can't worry all the time...good luck

First of all, I'm sure it's not ALWAYS that you think something bad is going to happen to you. If it's always, you will die of fear or heart attack. There are times that this feeling is more pronounced. Have a good look at your environment, is it really safe? There are things you can control to make yourself feel safer with the help of your parent's or friends' advice - locking your doors when necessary, not exposing yourself to danger, wearing safety gear when doing doing sports, etc. If all these are accounted for then your fear may be unfounded. It if it and it is becoming a hindrance to your daily work or study schedule then you must go see a doctor if it is indeed paranoia in the clinical sense.

Otherwise, you are simply used to negative thinking and you should learn to look at the brighter and lighter side of life. You can change this attitude, it's not too late, but you'd have to form the thinking habits that will not stress you out.

You may be a pessimist (always looking for the bad stuff and expecting bad things to happen). It isn't easy to kick this habit of always expecting the worst, but you really need to try. On the flip side, always expecting something bad to happen can prepare you to face it if it does happen. It never hurts to be a little cautious; just don't let it take over your whole being.

Take it from someone who always expects the worst too!

I think a lot of women feel this way, which explains why the Simple Abundance Gratitude Journal became so popular. For women, our negative feelings & positive feelings often are rolled into one giant ball. The bad feelings seem to suffocate any good feelings we have.

Keeping a gratitude journal takes 5 seconds a day. You simply write down, everyday, 5 things that you are grateful for. In your case, specifically, you'd want to find 5 good things that have happened you that day. Pretty soon, the positive voice grows louder than the negative voice, and fills you with peace of mind.

There's a fun way to do this online:

I recommend giving yourself a certificate each day. Find a generic one in either Publisher or Word.

You're probably fearful because you're not paying attention.

If you ease up long enough, you'll notice all the good things already happening to you -- reasonable health, family and friends, music, the beauty that surrounds you, the things you like to do. Yes, bad stuff does happen to everyone. But it has to be put in context: painful blips within all that good stuff.

Life's not half bad -- in fact, nowhere near half.

Cause [paranoia] ain't the way to live your life from day to day

So leave your doubts and your fears behind

Don't be afraid at all

Cause up in outer space there's no gravity to fall

Put your mind and your body to the test

Cuz up in outer space is like the wild wild west
