Most of us atheists believe that our life on earth is pretty insignificant in the grand scheme of things. We know we will die and that will be it. So there's no need to get a big head over it.

To ask that question seems pretty egomaniacal yourself.

I don't see atheists going out proclaiming that their belief is the right belief, telling others that if they don't believe as we, the atheists, do they'll go to some hell or the like.

We don't have television channels devoted to our beliefs.

We don't have "Atheist Camps".

We don't have churches.

We just defend out rights and beliefs against the majority believers who want to push their agenda on us.

If that ain't egomaniacal, I don't know what is.

What's more egomaniacal than someone who thinks he (or she) is better than someone else because that person doesn't believe what he (or she) believes. I'm an atheist and, while I don't share your beliefs and might have some opinions about them, I don't think I'm better than you are. That's the difference between us.

You mean, do I wish I wasn't like George W. Bush, Pat Robertson, Anne Coulter, Reverend Jerry Falwell, and Bill O Reilly?

Egomaniacal? And it isn't egomaniacal when someone is trying to push their beliefs in your face, and telling you that you deserve to burn in the fires of Hell for all eternity because you don't believe the same things they do?

No. I kinda like being egomaniacal. I get to do this whole "evil booming laugh" thing and rub my hands together wickedly...

I am probably the last person someone would call an egomaniac.

You don't know me, you've never met me before, so how can you call me egomaniacal?
Stop hassling me and every other decent person who is an atheist.
Don't you wish you weren't so small-minded and intolerant?

Given that the main focus of my life is my family, I don't feel that definition fits at all.

I do think for myself and encourage others to do the same. If that is what you mean then NO.

As I am not in the least egomaniacal, the question is moot.
