I looked up on MS' website to look into it and as far as it shows me, I need to buy Office just to get word. I don't know if it was a old version of it but I could have sworn I saw copies of just Word for mac on the shelves of a computer store I was at about a week and a half ago. I look up on their site and it was the same thing all over again, a whole bunch of listings for Office for mac but none for just a copy of Word. If I only have the choice of spending more on a copy of Office than I spent buying the OS my computer runs on, then does anyone happen to know of any good word processor programs for Mac that are reasonably understood?

Where I work, MS word alone is $219 dollars,
home and student edition of MS office $150
Word also comes packaged in MS Works Suite for $89.00 That's the cheapest way to get it.

Macs come with a word processor that is very useful, you might try it before paying for Word.

There are other programs that are free of cheap and nearly as good, and compatible with Word.

If you need Word, you can get it from Amazon (and others) for about $200 by itself.

Try http://openoffice.org or http://www.abisource.com

They are free and can do anything MS word can. I personally like abiword the best.
