I saw that too. Although there are people like that, most of those just want attention from everybody else. The "I'm special, look at me" look. I would say 99% of witches, pagans, wiccans, or even statanists, dress just like normal people most of the time. On that show, notice how the "white" witches had the pretty, colorful, spring outfits, and how the "dark" witches all wore dark gothic looks, and the Satanists wore black and red. I imagine the show directors asked them to dress that way so they could see how set apart they were from each other. If they dressed like most people, the audience wouldn't be able to tell who's who. The white and dark witches talked about witchcraft and spells for various purposes. They talked about gods and goddess, but not one mentioned the faith that has to be a part of it as well. Ceremonies calling on gods and goddesses don't work if you don't have faith and belief in what you are doing. Too often people just look at the superficial, and not at what is at the core. And it really ticks me off when idiots dress up for the camera just to try and impress others with how special they are. It makes us look as kooky as the raving christian fanatics that are scared of Harry Potter books. Don't believe what you see on those TV shows. They're just out to attract people to watch and get ratings. If you really want to know more about other beliefs or religions, just look out on the internet, there are some good places to research, or check out some books from the library.
Dark doesn't equal evil. Everybody is both light and dark. Some people may express one side more than another, but we all have both. Sometimes, dark, is just trying to look below the surface of something instead of taking what you see, as reality.
Witchcraft or religion, it all comes down to each individuals own desires as to how they want to live their life. We're all crazy people no matter how you look at it.

The Tyra Banks is a trash talk show.
Thusly, they get the not best representations of Witchcraft. Even the commercial for that episode had layovers and transitions of fire, demons, and hell. :|
You're not going to get any good information about witchcraft, "black" or "white", on a show that tears the practice down before it's even aired.

Yes, it was a joke. So don't waste your time. [Note to Yahoo Answers, I have answered the question] There's a documentary called "White Angels Black Angels" from the 1970's, and although it's on the sensational side, it is still good. It's on DVD.
There is a fluffy bunny witch on Yahoo Answers who is deliberately getting my answers to these questions deleted. She's a fake Wiccan with mail order diplomas. She made a big deal about how she was called by the Tyra Banks show (no doubt she called them first). I said she she was selling out our religion, so she got my answer deleted. She also got a question deleted from about 6 months ago about sex magic. Then she had the nerve to use a sock puppet to ask me how sex magic worked. LOL!
Consider the kind of witches they had on the show, no wonder it sucked.

I saw some of that too... I think they overplayed it a little like OOOO DARK EVIL SCARY WITCCHESSSS ON MY STAGGEEE it was like give me a break. It's not that I don't believe in witchcraft or don't accept it or anything, it's just on that show they tried to make it really like ooooo look how bad the bad guys areeee and personally I don't like Tyra or her show.

If you're looking to learn about and understand more about witchcraft - at least enough to make an informed opinion about it - chuck what you saw on Tyra out the window. Ugh. What she showed wasn't anything resembling an informative show about the subject matter. She was too busy playing up the "Oooh, we should be afraid, we're doing a show on WITCHES, aren't we BRAVE?" aspect to give her guests any opportunity to actually share what their beliefs and practices were... unless it fed into the "SPOOOOOOOOKY" category.
It was quite possibly one of the worst pieces about witchcraft that I've seen.

Darn, I missed it. Anyone know if it will re-air? I am fascinated by the subject.
I've done a bit of research online about the difference in "white" and "dark" witches, and I do have to admit that the "dark" witches, in general, have been cattier, and bitter that people don't "understand them" but very belittleing to people who do express an interest in learning.
Now, I'm not making any sweeping judgments, so please no one put a spell on me! lol I'm just as curious as the one who posted...

i did no longer see it, yet I study a evaluate - it sounded extremely undesirable. One one factor, Fiona Horne and quite a few white-lighters; on the different, quite a few "uber-frightening black witches." Oh, yeah, and an ex-witch to speak approximately how eeeevil all of it is, and how fortunate she is to have escaped. All in all, sounds like it grew to become right into a wash.

The Tyra Banks show was pretty much a joke, start to finish. Most Wiccans I've spoken to since agree that what was presented doesn't really reflect our beliefs in any coherent way.
Such shows aren't concerned with the truth, or even with a reasonable degree of accuracy. They're all about creating spectacles with lots of emotional content to engage their audiences. Therefore, they choose people who are "interesting", and sometimes just plain unbalanced.
Witchcraft is a technique, like prayer -- and people from many different religions, and even some atheists, make use of it. As I was taught, it presupposes that everything in the universe is interconnected, and therefore applying pressure at one point in the universal "machine" will create change elsewhere. There is no "good" or "bad" to witchcraft per se: that's up to the intent of the person using it.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to email me. I promise I won't try to convert you or anything like that. That's not what we're about.

Tyra Banks is an air-headed model and doesn't know sh*t about sh*t. Wicca is not a bad or evil religion. It sounds like Tyra Banks made it look like it was evil. They are exploiting witches so they can get good ratings. Don't believe anything you see on that stupid, concieted, shallow b*tch's talk show.
