No, not at all. There are many different events in track. Running fast in a lot of cases, is a natural talent, or a lot of hard work. But you could run distance and be very good at it. Running distance just takes dedication and the will to not give up. Anyone can be fast but it takes strength to be a good distance runner. And of course you have your field events that have nothing to do with running but more leg strength, arm strength, and technique.

No, because there are also jumping and throwing events.
As far a s running goes, anyone can run. But running quickly is a different matter, and requires talent/ genetics, and a strong work ethic. The athletes who run at the Olympics are like the top 0.000001% of everyone on the planet who runs. Obviously, not everyone can get to the Olympics or the World Championships, but that shouldn't take anything away from the enjoyment of the sport.

It would help especially if you are doing events like the 100M/200M/100/110H, if you are competitive, want to move on etc. But speed can also be developed over time and training. You hear of naturally born fast people but they became faster with training and as their technique good better. Don't worry about it, try all events, maybe ven field events like shot/discus/javelin you may be good at those if you've got coordination instead of speed.

No, not usually you don't need to run at all if you do the field events and its good to be part of a team and you might surprise yourself by turning out for the team how much better you will be by the end of the season

No definetly not. A lot of my friends run just because they want to be in good shape and track is also a more relaxed sport than other spring sports. If it isn't a waste of your time you should definetly run track.

You could do a field event like shotput, high jump, long jump, or pole vault. You don't even have to run to be in Track and Field.

It helps alot, but is not the most important quality in a track athlete.
--What events are you desirous to run in?
sprints--SPEED and quickness off the blocks!
440-- speed is a must, endurance has to be there also!
880 endurance comes first and speed would give you extra assurance!
mile--endurance can blow away your competition and speed in the finish would help.

It depends on if your team has cuts.
If it does you have to if it doesn't just go and have fun but still try because they might have cuts next year.
