My husband is in Iraq and we have a daughter who is turning one soon. I want to buy a camcorder to record those precious moments in her life that my husband will miss. I need a camcorder that will make it easy for me to put videos on the computer to show him. One that can make a DVD easily. I really know nothing about camcorders and I want something that has excellent quality and ease of function. The cost is not important. Any suggestions?

There must be several other wives in your situation. Do you have a local support group? Chances are, there are others in your area who have the same problem.

If so, they may already have the solution. Do a quick check- you might even find someone willing to "test drive" a camcorder. In return, offer to film parent AND child together.

Sure you can use a tripod, but a live human can track a moving infant more easily. And "mommy" will want to be IN the picture, holding the childs hand and being ready if he/she falls.

Good luck, and best wishes while your husband is in a difficult place.

You will get the best quality for the least money with a miniDV camcorder. Windows Vista makes it easy to edit and burn video from miniDV camcorders using Movie Maker and DVD Maker.

A DVD camcorder makes a DVD in the camcorder. You can then copy the camcorder DVD to full size DVD's.

There is allot to talk about this kind of technology. Different prices and all. It would be best to go to a store that has that kind of stuff and I'm sure they will help you find a perfect one that you need.

Good luck.
