Will it help with aggression and marking? And if I go through with it, will the surgery kill him, he's under 10 pounds.

Although you have gotten many answers, Ill give you another opinion. YES nuter or spay your dog, yes yes yes! It helps them with thier health. It decreases thier changes of getting cancer, especially in males, They should be at least 6 months old. And whereever you get it done at make sure they are attentive to you and your pets needs. Get bloodwork run before you get surgury, all places should be doing that anyhow. this will check all thier levels with putting them under for the surgury. OF course every time u put a pet under there is a risk of them dying on the table but its very rare. I put my 12 year old dog under for a dental and she was fine. Good luck!

These are really questions best answered by your vet. But...I have three dogs and have owned, raised and trained dogs all of my life so here is my 2 cents worth. First, it is unlikely that the surgery will kill him. For a male it is a very simple procedure, basically Snip. Second, is he aggressive and marking now? I had my one dog neutered and now he's a lazy old hound but he was that way before. My other dog was as hyper as a spider monkey. Still is. It settles them down some but not as much as you would think, or hope LOL

How old is your dog and what type is your dog? With the weight issue I would wait until your dog is a least 6 months old before getting him fixed. And that is the reccomended age because if you fix them to young you could kill him. Plus the dog would have more weight by then. There are certain types of dogs that some vets won't fix because of fear that they would lose the animal in surgery or won't live long after the surgery. I have two dogs and my cocker spainel mix dog who's now close to 17 years old my vet refused to fix when he was a puppy. The dogs once they are fixed won't know that they are but they still would jump on the other dogs.

The surgery can be done on rats even - they weigh less than a pound, most of them, so a dog is quite safe.

Yes, it will indeed calm his aggression and relieve him of the need to mark.

Vets do this procedure likely more than any other; your dog will be quite safe but with have his head in a cone for several days so he doesn't worry the stitches from the surgery.

Yes it will help (if not completely stop) aggression and marking, without a doubt.
The surgery will not kill him. Many vets spay and neuter puppies at 8 weeks old. Most puppies aren't 10 pounds at that age and are much more weak than an adult dog.
You boy will be fine and kudos for neutering him.

Yes it will help with aggresson and the marking. He will be a little calmer also. No the surgery wont kill him as long as hes of age 5- 7 months depending on breed. Weight has nothing to do with it.

It will help with the aggression and marking. Is you dog at a normal weight for his bred? It is good to have in as good health as possible, if he's underweight supplement his food with healthy treats, such as cooked egg whites, even the whole egg is fine, milk bones, or lean meat (no bones -- pieces of bones can break off and cause severe health problems). You could also increase his food portion.

If 10 pounds is a normal weight for your bred of dog, don't worry. Go ahead with the surgery.

The surgery will not hurt him at all. (I am assuming your dog is male) It will help with aggression and marking.
Any size dog can be fixed, it is age that matters. Is he mature enough. Your vet will know, so will the local Humane Society.

With female dogs it is a far more dangerous process.

,No the surgery will not kill him. It is very safe for animals of all sizes and as far as his aggression, it will calm it a bit but not totally alleviate it, that unfortunately is a part of his character. He should stop marking as well. You are most definitely on the right path for your pet and for any unwanted pups elsewhere.
Good Luck!

No, your dog is not in danger of being killed - thankfully, vets perform many of these surgeries every day on all sizes of dogs. You will have a more relaxed dog, but remember that neutering is not a substitute for good training.
