and they say "always good"
why would they say always good?

LOL. i do that too. It just means that my answer's always the same, good, regardless of whether im good or not. This is just a casual reply..at times we dont want ppl to start going like 'not good, how come'? and stuff..

Hahaha... that's cos they don't really bother to tell you how they really are.
Closer friends / loved ones will add in a bit of details of the happenings in their life... However, if you are already a close friend or the loved one of the person, she / he may just not want you to worry about them. : )
You may want to start sharing your day with them first... they may open up to you after a while. : )

To be polite. Many people give you a speech about how awful they are. I would rather hear always good.

I think it sounds kinda cool. Maybe they just want to be cooler than other people who only say, "fine" and nothing else.
