i have 2 questions about Limewire.

1. How do you open a file you downloaded? or do you just open it from the downloaded list? (I heard about shared folder...?)
2. When I searched for a program it came up with .zips and .exes. which should i download?

Thanks

First of all, I'm going to answer the second question.
NEVER download an exe file that you find in a peer to peer application such as Limewire. EXE files are executables, which means that as soon as you open them they will start the installation process. If this file happens to be infected with a virus, which is very common when using these types of downloads, you would immediately be infected. Zip files are archives, to open these files you'll need winzip or winrar which will let you see the files that are inside and also run a virus scan before you unzip or extract them.

Now the first question.
To open a file, you will need navigate to the directory where the files will be saved. You can see this by clicking on the top where it says library. Go there and place the mouse where it says saved files, leave it there for a second and if you are using windows xp, a litle pop up will come up telling you the exact directory where this file is located.

Or, click tools, options and the first thing you'll see on the left is saving. Highlight this and on the right you'll see the directory.

I recommend that you limit the upload bandwidth and the amount of people that connect at once so that your pc doesn't end up crawling. Also, make sure you have a good firewall and Antivirus in place before running anything you download from limewire.

Good luck

both zips and exes with work, as long as you have something to open the zip with (XP will automatically) but be careful when downloading these! they may contain viruses!
the shared folder is in "my computer" if you go to your local disk, it is usually in there under the name "shared folder"
