I have an easy system. First of all, it is based on hygiene production and not collection, because it is our experience that hygiene collections are virtually 100%. This makes it easier to calculate and you don't have to worry about multiple monthly averages, etc. All I do is set the bonus base at 3 times the daily salary and pay 20% (generous?) of any excess over the bonus base.

Add up the total hygiene production for one month and divide it by the days worked. If this figure is higher than 3 times the total salary paid for that month, the hygienist gets bonus. Subtract the total salary from the total produced and multiply by 0.2 (20%) This is the hygiene bonus for the month.

My hygienist ALSO gets any regular office bonus that is paid, because she is vital to the rest of the team reaching the bonus base.

I don't get an individual hygiene bonus. Our office as a whole gets a bonus based on a certain amount of collections per month. This has kept us working like a team, instead of one person getting a bonus. Last month my bonus check was for six hundred dollars. It has been anywhere from two hundred to six hundred depending on collections. We don't base our bonuses on production, but collections. It has worked well for us.

they dont get bonuses really. There is no 1 answer for you because most DH work in PRIVATE dental offices. WHich means whatever the dentist who owns the practice wants to pay is what you get.
