I bought a can of cherry pie filling but I'm not using all of it. My grandmother always told me not to refrigerate things in the can (condensed and evaporated milk excluded) and I was wondering if it was safe to refrigerate it in the can or if I needed to store it in a separate container.

Never refrigerate anything except for milk in a can, because you can get poisoned from the metal in the can. You need to store in a seperate container

Its safe. You can put it in a bowl or something else to avoid the tinny can taste. it shouldnt happen with pie filling though.

You can; but it tastes tinny. Put it in a separate container. Much nicer to eat later.

It is probably ok but it might get a tinny taste to it. Why not put it in tupperware or eat it instead?

yes, it's fine.

About the only thing that will taste gross if opened then stored in the can is pineapple.

I would think it would be fine as long as it wasn't opened.
