My son is a very bright and kind sixth grader. He has a problem with excessive worrying about his religon (catholic), sex, homo- sexuality, school (popularity ect.), and puberty. Yesterday, he said he had a boy's pueberty moment that scared him to death. Any ideas on how to make him worry less and not get scared anymore??

Bless his heart!! Plese read this link. It was very informative for me. I'm a mother with 4 boys and my 11 year old is starting in with some puberty issues.

Talk to him and let him know that his "puberty moment" was probably a natural male response. Your son is on the edge of his teens where kids worry about sex, school and popularity. The homosexuality worry is probably tied up with the religion. I haven' got any advice on that, I am not religious and that's one of the reasons, I don't want the guilt trip. Maybe an older male in your family or church can give him some guidance.

Remind him he's not the only one that's going through this right now even if it seems like that. The other boys in his class have the same problems...and tell him he's lucky he's not a girl with 'girl problems'.
All children go through this stage. They're starting to wonder who they are and where they stand. They want to matter and be cool, and they don't want to be made fun of because they're different.
Tell him to laugh it off...make jokes about it...relax...take a few breaths...it's not the end of the world...or say...well at least you didn't have THIS happen to you...

Get him The Step. By going up and down The Step for 5-15 minutes before he goes to bed, and again when he wakes up (do it with him to help him be motivated). This will push his metabolism up, of which will increase the chemicals in his brain, of which will make him more happy and more positive about life. People with low metabolism worry about everything.

He may have OCD. My friend's son drove himself nuts worrying about marks on his shoes, a thread hanging from a hem, and all kinds of stull like you mention. He may need counseling.

I scent some thing "fishy" including your tale . maximum boys do not bypass round talking about their penis length to their fathers ..... besides the undeniable fact that; he's basically effective ... easily 5.2 - 5.5 Inches is the size for an undemanding grownup Male .....

Well you've obviously put the "fear of God" into him.
Try telling him that it's okay if he gets a ***** at school, it's a natural reaction... and he won't go to hell for it.
