JAMBA juice! It's a fruit smoothie... so it's chilled and full of nutrition. When my daughter had her braces tightened... I would always stop & pick this up.. because they are very filling & also easy to drink during the tender time.

Technically you can eat anything but really sticky, chewy foods or things that are hard and you have to bite into (carrots, apples, etc.) Mostly, eat what you feel comfortable eating. Some days he'll only be able to do soup and ice cream. Other days it will be steak and potatoes. Things do get stuck in them, it's the nature of braces. I went through the whole dating phase with braces - dinner was just not a date option. Make sure he takes a toothbrush to school with him so he can brush after lunch. He might want to avoid stringy things. But it's pretty much a comfort thing that he'll learn to deal with as he goes along. Tell him good luck with his braces and that his smile will be worth it!

Its going to hurt for the first week, maybe more. Here's what I ate when I got braces, these things are liquid or soft so he shouldn't have trouble with it getting stuck in his teeth:

+Ramen noodle soup
+Soup
+Yogurt
+Mashed Potatoes and Gravy
+Ice Cream
+Baby Food (its soft, but a little weird..)

usually for the first few days, i would stick w/ pretty much soft stuff. yogurt, smoothies, soup & etc. after awhile, he should basically pretty much eat the stuff he used to (except for gum & sticky stuff). if he's gonna eat hard foods, like apples or carrots, i suggest cutting them into small pieces.
