They use them to detect mines and other explosives. The joke is funny, used it my self.

Nope, sorry it doesn't give you permission to joke about those sorts of things. If you were in the Navy, you would understand the importance of not spreading gossip and lies about our military.
The Navy trains animals to sniff out underwater bombs. Yes, the animals are in danger, but guess what? humans are higher on the food chain. it's a dirty job and someone has to do it. why not the smartest animal in the ocean with a better chance of surviving?

Those animals are pretty damn smart. Dolphins can easily finds swimmers and the navy already has used them to find underwater mines. O ya to whoever said they feel bad for how these animals are treated you otta see how they are treated. They are treated pretty well.
