We have an older Jack Russel here who recently/still might be in heat. We were told she was going out of heat soon and probably on her last week or less. There was an incident with our older Chiwawha male today and when we found them lets just say they were together. Our male dog usually is very winny and won't leave a female alone if a dog is in heat but he was not like that for the past few days and when she went up to him he smelt her and pretty much ignored her even sometimes walking elsewhere. We watched them but she seemed more interested in hanging next to him and smelling him than he did so we thought she was out of heat for he is never like this he usually won't leave the girl alone or stop crying if he is not with her. Anyway, we ended up going to the kitchen to get something for a couple mins and when we came back like I said lets just say they were together and seemed to be done. What are the chances that she could be pregnant? How can I tell? Was she in or out of heat? Thx

If they were butt to butt stuck, the chances are very high. Just so you know, the dogs don't have to be stuck for her to become pregnant. But the chances are lower. If you don't want puppies, you still have time to get her spayed. Call the vet and get her in.
