I just noticed another question here on Answers that prompted me to think about one of these gnawing questions that I can't seem to resolve. Between my religious studies class and websites and some of my eccentric friend's books, I keep encountering the phrase "vibrational frequencies" in reference to New Age-type religions. I even have a book about crystals that talks about them.

My question with regard to these "vibrational frequencies" is this: what, precisely, is it that's vibrating? I mean, I have no problem with the good ol' idea of atoms and molecules vibrating as it relates to an object or substance's temperature. But people talk about something having "high" vibrational frequencies or "low" vibrational frequencies, or bringing their vibrational frequencies into alignment, or whatever. I doubt that these people are talking about warming things up or cooling them down.

So WHAT ON EARTH are these supposed vibrations all about? All input is appreciated--thank you!

I guess my mind is in the gutter, 'cause I thought you meant vibrators or something.

Oh but you are wrong.... The scientists have such meetings where they get together with others in the science community and share their discoveries. They may not meet on a weekly basis, but they do meet! Anyway, being a scientist is a CAREER and it is like comparing apples to oranges. Yeah, I guess some would argue that an apple and an orange are both in the fruit category......... But some scientists belong to a religion and go to church. Belief and 'church' are two very seperate things. A church is just a building where people meet for their religious lessons.... sort of like going to school once a week. A belief is pretty much a code, a set of rules, of how & why to live and EVERYBODY has that whether they are Christians, Atheists, scientists, or murderers! I don't think it is suspicious at all for a group of people to get together to share an idea, or pat each other on the back or worship their idea of God. Just part of being social! Now if they were sporting white robes with pointy hoods or tats, guns and gang colors...... THEN I would get a little nervous!
