With every puppy crate training is very important.

-You want to get a proper fit crate. I would recommend one that is for all life stages. So you can buy just one crate. You want your pug to be able to turn around, sit, stand and lay down.

You do not want to let him have any food or water in the crate. Also do NOT put the puppy pads in there as he will get confused.

You may give him a toy such as a Kong or a Natural bone. Stay away from rawhides as they are unhealthy for dogs and puppies.

He should only be in her crate when your not home or can not watch her closely.

The crate is NEVER to be used to punishment. It should be a happy and safe place he wants to be in.

-Potty training can be difficult with small breeds. You want to buy puppy wee wee pads. Place one by his food and one by the door you want him to go out or to when he has to make potty. Each week move the wee wee pad by his food closer and closer to the door until he has just one pad. Then leave it there until he gets the hang of going outside.

You want to take him out as soon as you let him out of his crate or 15 mins after he eats or drinks.

Reward him when he goes outside or on his pads! Give him a treat and lots of loven.

NEVER shove his face in his mess if he has an accident. Also NO HITTING it will make him aggressive.

Just use a strong WRONG or BAD BOY! Then take him right outside.

-Now for feeding him you want to make sure he is on a healthy puppy food. Nothing that contains Corn, Wheat, Beef, By Products or Fillers. These ingredients are very unhealthy for the dogs and puppies and hard to digest.

Some examples of bad food are Iams, Purina, Science Diet, Diamond, Pedigree, Eukanuba and Alpo.

Good foods are Natures Recipe, Nutro Max, Lassie Natural Way and Royal Chain.

I personally recommend Natures Recipe as they have it for all life stages. Natures Recipe is all natural and is completely healthy and easy for your puppy to digest! It leads to a healthy body and shinny coat. Natures Recipe also cuts down on shedding, bad breath and the amount of stool they produce.

On the bag it will tell you how often and how much to feed him.

-NO HUMAN FOOD! Not a good thing to get him started on as it is unhealthy for dogs.

-Also wet food is ok as a treat but not daily. It sticks to the dogs teeth and leads to an unhealthy mouth.

- I would also recommend training classes. Puggles can make wonderful pets if they are trained well at the right age.

I have a Puggle who is now 14 months old. We crate trained her as well. Basically, while you are home with your pup, you must constantly take it outside to use the bathroom.
When mine went to the bathroom in the house I would bring it to the spot and say No... Eventually they get the point
She would go to the bathroom in her crate a lot when we weren't home, which could be messy and aggravating sometimes. But eventually she started standing by the front door when she needed to go out. And she even stopped using her crate as a bathroom.
Another thing about the crate.. If it is too big, which was our mistake, she will pee in one end and lay at the other. Only give your dog enought room to lay down and turn around. As cruel as it may seem, it really works.. A dog does not pee where it has to lay... And the pee pads don't work... My puggle would tear them to shreds and get it everywhere.
Bottom line is... just take the dog out every 45 minutes - 1 hour. And they will understand the routine.. Try to give treats too, they will definitely remember that...
Good luck...

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aUNAt

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Buy some training pads. When he poo's off the mat take it to the pad and place it there and show him/her. Same thing when they pee, just take em to the mat and clean the mess, but when they get it right give pleaty of love and praise them or give a treat. The idea kicks in , from what i read off a add that they dont gain blader muscle control till 4 months of age.
Never hit with newspape. Idea is for Positive training and not negative. Dont want them mad at you.
You have to think of them as kids. when you potty train them you'll have accidents, but they learn.

There are a bunch of things you should know about dog training but we are going to discuss what I feel are some the most important. Keep in mind that these are only some of the things you should know. Go here http://OnlineDogTraining.enle.info/?UwMX

1. Repetition is the number 1 principle of dog training. Dogs just like humans learn by doing things over and over in order to get better.

2. Dog Training can and should be fun for both you and your new pet.

3. Training sessions should always be short but sweet. I never work a dog more than 15 minutes in a session to keep from losing the dog's attention. You should train you dog at least once a day but never more than three formal sessions a day.

4. Your goal should be that each training session is just a little bit better than the last one. You need to always strive to make the training better, slowly. I mention this because quite often I see people who do daily training sessions but the dog never gets better and it is not the dogs fault.

5. Having patients is very important in dog training. Losing your temper does not work with a canine it simply makes things worse.

6. Exercise is very important in the training process to get rid of all the dogs nervous energy.

7. Taking your pet for walks is very important because it develops serotonin which gives your dog a feeling of well being.

8. Always be sure to give your dog a bunch of praise in your training. It is your dog's paycheck for doing a great job.

9. Never hit your dog. I have heard people say I never hit my dog instead I roll up a magazine and swat it. It's the same thing... hitting is hitting.

10. After each training session be sure to do something that your dog will enjoy. Take it for a walk, throw the ball or maybe even rub its belly. Just do something that makes the dog look forward to the next training session.

These are things that I teach my dog training students as well as my dog training clients. I hope these things will give you something to think about when training your dog. Spend some time training your dog daily and you will both reap the benefits.

Take him and put him in the crate every 30min to an hour and wait until he potties. When he does, while he is in the crate, give him a treat. Do this enough, and with a little patience, he will do it on his own w/o a reward.

Remember to take many many many potty breaks and allow him to play with you in the house when you are there to monitor him. Keep lots of rawhide chewies around to prevent him from chewing on furniture.

I love crate training - it is a wonderful way to give you and him a break from each other and to give them a calm place to lay and rest.
