Earwax is meant for cleaning the ear. It also protects it from some harmful things like fungus, bacteria, etc. Even insects! There is one kind of insect that will actually live inside your ear, feeding off the earwax. So that's one of the bad things. But it does more bad or good, cuz as long as ur a clean person, chances are u won't get that bad insect. But there are few that can get past earwax.

Earwax is good for liberation, cleaning and prevention from some bacterial diseases.
According to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earwax
“Earwax, also known by the medical term cerumen, is a yellowish, waxy substance secreted in the ear canal of humans and many other mammals. It plays an important role in the human ear canal, assisting in cleaning and lubrication, and also provides some protection from bacteria, fungus, and insects. A comprehensive review of the physiology and pathophysiology of cerumen can be found in Roeser and Ballachanda. Excess or impacted cerumen can press against the eardrum and/or occlude the external auditory canal and impair hearing.”
For more information I suggest that you read the rest of the article.

earwax (cerumen) is very important as it's job is to clean out the ear canal. Using a Q-tip can be detrimental because it will push wax back into the canal. People have different amounts of earwax for no reason in particular.

Earwax is meant to block and catch any bacteria or other harmful particles such as dust from entering the ear canal and causing infections or other problems in the ear. But having too much earwax can be a huuuge problem. If your ears feel blocked up, then see a doctor. =)

Earwax protects the ear by catching dust and other foreign objects.
I would say it does more good then bad, unless you have it pouring from your ears.

it is meant to keep out foreign objects...such as bugs! so if a bug has ever crawled into your ear, you can thank Mr. earwax that it didn't get far enough to do any damage! =]

I just had ear Candling done (A cone made of beeswax is stuck in your ear and lit at the other end and it draws out all the gunk.
The lady was explaining to me and then I came home and researched the topic. If not for ear wax, we would get constant ear infections as it is there to protect our ear drums.
Plain and simple!
