Keep practicing and singing. The voice is a muscle and like all muscles the more you use it the stronger it gets and the stronger it is the more range it will have. Good luck.

It depends on how old you are and if you actually know your voice type. When I was 13 I thought I was an alto, I would turn out to be a lyric soprano. Don't start jumping octaves right away as that can be damaging. You want to make sure you have solid technique in your current vocal range and then I would begin adding one note at a time, maybe 2, especially if you are talking about expanding your upper register. The lower register is easier to find. You also want to make sure you are singing evenly through the entire register, meaning you don't want to be swinging from head to chest voice as this creates two different types of sound and can be very stressful on your chords. Get good varied vocal exercises and a professional coach to guide you. Good luck (scales are fine, but not the only kind of vocal exercise)

I am going through the same thing. I have a low voice for a teenage girl and I am in chorus. Half of the time I am singing the bottom or tenor part. My chorus teacher has me doing alternative scales. I sing an octave higher than the tenor part or I sing the soprano part an octave lower. Either way it goes everyday practice going a little higher and/or lower. Doing this will widen your range. Be sure not to sing to much higher or lower wear it hurts your throat because it will not help it will make things worse. Don't do a complete octave if it hurts your voice. It takes me a while sometimes before I can sing the alto or tenor part up an octave

Get a professional involved - and shop around for a good one. Make sure you get a second opinion so you don't wind up damaging your voice in the process.

That said, good selection of both warm-up exercises and performance rep will help to gradually develop your range.

Furthermore, there is a teaching technique/singing style that some believes maximizes possible range called belle-canto. Ask aournd in your area to find a teacher of this singing style (mostly likely at a college or conservatory - but not to worry, these teachers often take private students in addition to the courses they teach).

First, make sure you're singing correctly within your comfortable range. Once you've learned to properly support each note within your range, start working on notes either above or below your natural range. Always make sure you're singing correctly, though, or you could do some serious damage to your voice.

A good vocal coach will be able to help you with this...

Just keep practicing. vocal lessons can help because they will help you play scales and stuff. So that's what you can do. If you have a piano or something like a keyboard sing scales up and down. Keep going higher or lower. Whichever way you want. But don't strain yourself or you can really hurt your vocal chords. One time i did that and my singing was husky....But yeah just keep going up and down scales.
GOOD LUCK

you can't change what god gave you. you can only work to perfect what you already have. try doing scales in an octave lower (or higher) than you normally sing. after you have practiced that some and feel comfortable, move down (or up) an octave when you feel comfortable.
