In general, I have a problem with these "split adulthood" ages. Voting, smoking, drinking, gambling, joining the military, etc. are all adult responsibilities. I don't see how you're responsible enough to vote, smoke, and serve in the military at 18 but you aren't responsible enough to drink or gamble until you're 21 (in the US). If there's a logical reason for this, I've yet to hear it.

I personally think 18 is the correct age, but the overall ridiculousness of "you can smoke, you can't gamble" is even more bothersome than the fact you can't gamble until you're 21.

In my opinion America needs to make a decision as to when a person becomes an adult. In this day and age 18 should be this age, and all rights should be given to legal adults.

America is one of the few countries in the world where there is a weird twilight zone between the age of 18 and 21 where many rights are given and some are not. If you can vote, buy a firearm, die for your country (in the service or as a criminal), get married, have kids, drive, and smoke, it seems odd that you cannot drink and can only gamble in some places.

current law states that you must be at least 21 in order to gamble. In my opinion, I think 18 should be the legal age.

It must suck to live in a country where the legal age is 21. That is just 3 years of partying you just miss out on. Hurray for legal age being 18 in Australia....
