Congratulations on the beginning of a happier you. I have braces and I love them. After I got them put on, I was really sore. My gums were swole and my teeth ached for about a week. Its best to eat soft foods that does not require a lot of chewing like applesauce, bananas, oatmeal and things of the sort. After the pain subsides, then you can go back to your normal eating habits making sure to stay away from gum, popcorn and/or any food that may break or damage your brackets and wires. Anything extremely hard can also damage your braces. Brush and floss regularly and you'll see a change in about a month. Good luck.

Technically you can eat anything but really sticky, chewy foods or things that are hard and you have to bite into (carrots, apples, etc.) Mostly, eat what you feel comfortable eating. Some days you'll only be able to do soup and ice cream. Other days it will be steak and potatoes. Good luck and you'll be thrilled with your beautiful smile!

OK... eat lots of ice cream , but make sure there's no caramel or anything like that. Um.. chew sugar free gum , and avoid hot soup. it makes the braces tighter. Drink milkshakes, and eat lots of colder things. this relaxes the metal in your mouth. I just got mine off, so it's a reliable source.
