You cant stay for (like) two years in jail, but you can in prison
oh and do you have to pay to be in prison like you do in jail
and why do you have to pay anyways??

Jail is a local facility, most of the time county run. They hold all non-sentenced inmates until they are sentenced, that could be more than a year. They can also hold inmates with sentences that are less than 12 months. In jail, there is less to do for the inmates, prison has more programs and activites to do.
Prison is a state or private facility. They hold inmates that are sentenced for more than 12 months. Judges will sometime sentence people to serve 12 months and 1 day so that they will have to serve it in prison. In prison you can work but make minimal wages, this hels the government recoup the costs of housing and programs. It costs more to house 1 inmate for 1 year than most people make earning a living.

Most jails are attached to the sheriff's departments and run solely by them. Sheriff's departments are responsible for holding short term inmates (12 months or less), misdemeanor crimes.
Prisons are run by state corrections and hold long term prisoners (1 year or more), felony crimes.

Yes you can stay more than 2 years in Jail. I was in jail in Ashland, KY which is Boyd County Jail in Cattletsburg, KY and the max they keep anyone in that jail is 5 years. I don't pay them a damn thing. They expect me too but I don't. They pay you when you are in prison. Your family brings commissary when you are in Jail.

reformatory is greater non everlasting or short term for basically trouble-free warrants or different issues and detention center is for like felons and what no longer they stay there for years a lot of time they get existence.
