No! It doesn't hurt at all. Your mouth might be a little sore for the next few days. Just sore though, nothing sharp or stinging, which is what I am afraid of myself! It just kind of feels like flossing...uncomfortable but not painful!

It does-a little bit. When you consider that your teeth have been in one position till now, then the braces come on, they are slowly being moved into a new, and better position. So, when you get the adjustments-you will feel some discomfort for a day or two after, eat soft foods at that time. And, if you need, take some Tylenol-it should help. Take care.

i had braces for three years. the only part that hurts is when they put new bands (the colored things on top of the silver brackets) on. i would take 2 advil before i went and it wouldnt hurt that bad. once you get your bands changed a few times, you will be used to it and know what to expect. after they change your bands your teeth will be a little sore for about 2-3 days afterward. but just eat soft foods and take some advil. the pain is worth the straight teeth!!! i promise. :D

everyones teeth are different and they may have to do a few things to you before you get braces like my friend had to get spacers between her teeth before she got braces and she told me that they hurt, but i never had them. but i can imagine that they would hurt a little. but it probably isnt anything a few advil cant cure. another thing they may have to do depending on your teeth is widen the roof of your mouth. i have heard that it is quite painful. just ask your orthodontist about what you should expect. go over your plan for the movement of your teeth. and i think that will make you more comfortable!

i can give you a tip though, if you floss your teeth every day your teeth will hurt less and they will move more quickly. flossing just loosens your teeth up a little bit.

hope i helped!!

your mouth & teeth will ache for several days. A couple tips that really helped me: always take an aspirin or some kind of pain reliever right before your appt., and stock up on some soft foods to eat for a couple days. This means don't ever plan an ortho. appt. right before a big occasion where you might have lots of good food to eat. Good Luck.

I have braces! The only trouble i've had is aching when you first have them on, Its a little hard to get used to them, and eat,but it doesn't take long. Before you know it you'll forget they're there and you'll have a perfect set of pearly whites in no time :D xx
