I have been getting a sharp pain in my lower left back (right above my left butt cheek) area when I skate for the last couple of months and I am getting tired of it. What is it? How can I get rid of it? Do I need to see a doctor? I have been taking ibuprofen or Tylenol (2 500mg) before I skate and the pain still comes. I went onto WebMD.com and they said its low back pain. They said that exercise will get rid of it, but I cant exercise with a sharp pain in my back. It hurts really bad.

If someone (like a doctor maybe) can help it would be greatly appreciated.

The first/fastest thing to do is see a massage therapist. They can help get the muscles to not be so tight which is what is causing the pain. (because pain can be referred all of the back)

There is a book called The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook by Davies that can teach you how to help the muscles, pain and referred pain yourself. Sad to say most Md's will only give you meds. And physical therapists tend to stretch the muscle with the knots still in it - very painful and damaging.
Molasses (one or two swigs) and bananas are natural muscle relaxers, but too much can give you the runs.

IM NOT A PHYSICIAN BUT TRY SOAKING IN QUITE WARM WATER WITH EPSOM SALT OR WHATEVER A PHARMACIST MIGHT RECOMMEND. ALSO WHEN YOU WALK AND FEEL THE PAIN TRY TO FIND A PRESSURE POINT ABOVE OR SOMEWHERE IN THE VICINITY OF THE PAIN WITH YOUR FINGER AND HOLD THAT PRESSURE POINT WITH YOUR FINGER AS YOU WALK AND LIFT YOUR LEFT LEG. ETC. THERE MAYBE SOMETHING YOUR DOING DURING THE COARSE OF THE DAY THAT CAUSES THIS LIKE SITTING COCK-EYED IN A CHAIR OR WHATEVER. BY PRESSURE POINT I MEAN A PLACE WHEN YOU PRESS IT THE PAIN GOES AWAY. KEEP AT IT BUT DONT O.D. ON MEDICINE. O.D. MEANS OVERDOSE. A HEATING PAD MIGHT DO REAL WELL DURING THE NIGHT WHEN YOU SLEEP ON THE AREA. YOULL SOLVE THIS SOON.
