Three men checked into a hotel and rented rooms.
The Desk Clerk charged them $10 each (3 x $10 = $30).
After they went upstairs to their rooms, the Desk Clerk realized that they rated a discount. So he gave the Bell Boy $5, and told him to refund it to the three Guests.
On the way, the Bell Boy realized that he couldn't split $5 evenly among the three Guests--so he pocketed $2 and gave each man a dollar bill.
So the rooms cost them $9 each (3x $9 = $27 total)
The Bell Boy kept $2 ( and $27 + $2 = $29)
Where did the other dollar go?

You miscalculated.
The total cost was $30 but he refunded them $5. [30-5=25]
but the boy kept $2 [25+2=27] and gave a dollar to each of the three guests. [27+3(1)=30]
Basically you can substract the 5 from 30 so (30-5=25) and divide the 5 as you say so: 2+1+1+1=5 and add the 5 again or add 2+1+1+1 to 25 which equals 30.

AH HA YOU DID IT WRONG. Since the real cost is 25 you add and 2 and 3 which is 30. So it's only 25+2+3=30. I CAUGHT THE MISTAKE.

i spotted that it used all the numbers 0-9. while the numbers are spelled out in be conscious style, all of them seem in alphabetical order. Hmm, that's divisble via all the numbers 0-9 different than 7.
